Ode to the Poets Corner

Completely not thought thru

As we argued over directions

of where we were to turn

I frantically searched the maps

and felt my stomach churn!

But there is was!'Trig road'

And Heard road after that

So we pulled into the drive

and spotted a flash of a ginger cat

Marg and John greeted us

with the warmth of old friend

and Bella bounded in front of them

looking for pats on her fury bends!

It has been absolutely marvellous

sipping wine with your company

We can't thank you enough

for a fabulous moment in N_Z

We came to Poets Corner with a view to spend some time

Exploring Waihi Gold town and going down a mine

We tramped the gorge,we played some golf

the course came out the winner

We met new friends,we stroked the dog

We enjoyed a surperb dinner

The views up here are breathtaking

The rooms and bed sublime

our hosts are really friendly and generous with the wine

Our second trip to Norht Island has truely been a treat

The weather has been kind to us we've even had some heat

We love this easy country, we will be back one day

And Poets Corner with John and Marg will be the place to stay

Oh what a beutiful morning

A wonderous sight to behold this dawning

Calm the sea

as blue as can be

These simple pleasures

Most definately me

My thanks to a friend

who had the presence

of mind to think of

me in the end---how kind

There is one thing left unsaid

Unspoken in our heads

When Poets Corner has been left behind

it will never be far from our minds

Thank you for ensuring our first Christmas in the sun,

was a relaxing time filled with plenty of fun

We've been amazed by the views and the hospitality

but unfortunately it's now time to return to reality

it is with sorrow the we have to depart

But the time we've spent here will remain in our heart

On the edge of Waihi

With great views of the sea

"On a road never crossed

'Cept by folk that are lost"

Stands a lodge run by Marg and by John

They are hosts of the best

What a great place to rest

And their breakfasts are delicious and long

Poet's Corner is its name

Excellence is their game

A return visit will not be too long!

My eye was caught by something dainty

The waving of the agapanthus

Blue and white they call you thus

To Poets Corner comes the traveller

To enjoy the welcome ,wine and Bella

not sure just what we'd find

The scenery.location and welcome

truely blew our mind

We visited NZ 3 years ago

we felt we would be back

After the Coroamndel surely

we'll find Bristol hard to hack

The 'Home' that Marg gave us

for 2 too short days

is a memory we'll treasure

forever and always

it's going to be sad to say

'Byee' to' Waihi '
